Two Australian Travelers turned Slow fashion admirers.

Travelling to Chiapas, Mexico in 2015 was an eye opening experience for us, as we became confronted by both the extreme poverty and amazing hand crafts of the region. Chiapas, which is in the south of Mexico is the true heart of mexico and the producer along with Oaxaca (a neighbouring state) of the majority of textiles in Mexico.

We witnessed the incredible talent and time taken to produce much of the textiles but in many respects the artisan works were not valued in a way we believe they should be. Our altruistic instincts have since guided is in our ambition to create Mayancolour into a brand which appreciates and recognises the talents of not only of the artisans but also the heritage and history of textiles made in Chiapas.

We aspire to continue to build stronger relationships with both our partnering artisans as well as consumers to spread the love of colourful handmade textiles and accessories from Chiapas, Mexico

As two Travelers at heart with a deep love of Mexico and in particular Chiapas, we have written a blog for any of our followers who wish to support the local communties through tourism.
